Words for Those Who are Hurting

Sometimes, the trials of this world are just too much to know what to do with, but thankfully God always has a reassuring word to remind us that He is there, He has not forgotten us, and He is worth trusting.

We all know someone who is hurting. It’s impossible to count the number of unbelievable, tragic, confusing, stressful, heartbreaking, exhausting scenarios that come to mind when I picture the people with whom I have a personal connection in some way.

While we all like an encouraging, relevant blog post to lift our spirits from time to time, God reminded me tonight that nothing can replace the power of His Word. It is perfect and just these five verses from Psalms speak volumes in way of encouragement to me tonight.

I’m praying for you, sweet friend, as you take them in. Find the comfort, restoration, and strength of God and His promises.

I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the LORD.

How blessed is the man who has made the LORD his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.

Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count.

~Psalm 40:1-5
