A Candid View of my Journey to Obedience

I’m doing it. I’m sharing a video. Of me talking. Something I vowed to never do in blogging. Not because I hate vlogs, but because I despise watching myself on camera. Yet God wouldn’t let the idea go no matter how much I tried to justify that it would probably be more spiritual to take a break from posting while I continued to let my hand heal.

Nope.

The theme that God keeps bringing me back to when I pray about blogging is obedience. Obey Him when I don’t want to. If you dare, you can watch me talk about it in the video below. I didn’t even fix my hair! I’m going to cringe over this tomorrow. πŸ™‚

    1. Thanks Ashley! As always, you find a way to encourage me. I’m so grateful for you friend!

  1. I have been following you on facebook for awhile but with my ADHD I have a hard time with actually reading things – I start well but can’t really make it through so I don’t read blogs for the most part – this I can do. I saw your vlog (which I thought was a typo at first – I get it now) which had a video so I clicked it and it was so neat! It was perfect for me to sit and listen while I putz on the computer. Know that by stepping out of your comfort zone you just widened your audience πŸ™‚ I like how to liken obedience to following the quiet voice of God in your head. Often people equate obedience with the 10 commandments and a list of do and do nots – however God has works for each of us to do that he has created us for and many of us miss those opportunities by being too busy, distracted or not obeying that quiet voice in our head pushing us out of our comfort zone. Neat post and I”m really excited for more “vlogs” You have a follower here!

    1. Mandy, thanks for your encouragement. I’m also happy that you didn’t actually “watch” me the whole time I talked. Whew! That realization makes me more comfortable to try another video sometime. πŸ™‚

  2. Kelly, I loved your first vlog and you were just adorable! Love your realness and hope you do more. Your lead by example to be obedient and step out of what’s comfortable is very encouraging to me!

  3. Love it, Kelly! I’m so thankful that you’re willing to put yourself out there, even if sometimes you feel like it’s for a small audience, because your friends need encouragement too! And I totally agree that this whole blogging experience is a growing experience. I feel like I’ve grown so much simply because I’m looking for what God is teaching me and being more intentional in my living. Looking forward to more vlogs! πŸ™‚

  4. Hey Kelly- I loved this so much! I’m so glad to hear how your allowing God to use you, even in ways you feel uncomfortable. πŸ™‚

  5. Kelly, you did a most awesome job! When you hurt your hand, my first thought in regard to your blog was, “I wonder if she has some voice recognition software? Surely there’s an app for that!” I never would have thought of a vlog. I’m so glad you found a way to work around temporary disability!

  6. very encouraging, Kelly! I can tell that you were uncomfortable when you first started but then you gradually relaxed throughout the video as you spoke from your heart. I can honestly say, that I will probably listen to video’s more than read a blog … so press on, friend!

  7. Great job! I know it’s easy to second guess, self critique and wince when reviewing ourselves….the beauty in this is that it’s all God. And the honesty of what He has done is so much more powerful when you’re real. Just lovely!

  8. You are brave! And, your video was great πŸ™‚ Been thinking of you and your “beautiful splint” – hope things are coming along!

  9. I can’t believe this is your first one. This was a blessing to me and I listened to it more than once. Obedience is difficult but joy follows as opposed to the grief of disobedience. Bless you, Kelly, I hope this isn’t your last!
